Curious but Cautious

Sadie is curious,
but you can never be too careful when sneaking up on a leaf.

Four on the Floor

Not exactly four on the floor.
More like four on the patio.

Nosing Around

Always take time to smell the flowers.
Then eat the grass right next to the flower.

Cranky Kitty

This is Meeko.  We had him before we had Emmie.
I think he's cranky because he's having a bad hair day.
Meeko always had to be the prettiest boy in the room,
and clearly on this day, he was not.

Fugly

I'm not adopting this one.
I won't invite it into my home
and I will not give it a name.

Not feeling well

Funny how you can tell when your pet isn't feeling well.
Sadie is just not herself today.

Dinner!

Sadie is not likely to allow us to forget a meal!  I need to get a video of her dancing around when I ask her, "Is it time for girlie dinner?"!

Laddy

This has to be one of the very best dogs ever.
I know, I say that about every dog, don't I...
I guess I'm crazy about dogs (and cats too).

This is Laddy with my Dad.

Maybe she'll go away

They both seem to be thinking, "Maybe if I don't look at her, she'll go away."

Treasure

Sadie has always loved her blanket.  It's where she keeps her treasures.

The nose knows

There is a reason Sadie is always on a leash.
She will follow that nose anywhere!

Nellie

Today I'm feeling a bit melancholy.  Here's a picture of Nellie.  She was such a sweet, funny, silly girl.

March 23, 2002 - November 19, 2010
When we got Nellie, we knew right away what her name was.  When she played, she played hard.  When she walked, she ran.  When she got into trouble, she got into big trouble.  Our first thought was "Whoa, Nellie!" and that name fit her perfectly.

Nellie knew what she liked - and what she didn't like.  She definitely didn't like bows in her hair after she was groomed.  She loved snow and cold weather.  She loved car rides.  Once when I said "let's go for a walk" she ran to the garage door.  Why walk when you have a car?

She was stubborn and sweet, she was my teacher and protector.  She made me laugh and she made me cry.  But she helped me learn to deal with loss.

And that's my Nellie.

Only pretending

Emmie is only pretending to sleep.
She is actually watching every move I make.

No double chin

If Sadie lifts her head, you can't really tell she has a double chin.
Ignore the belly.

What a predicament

Emmie got herself into a bit of a predicament.  She loves paper bags - sitting in bags, sitting on bags, tearing bags up.  Somehow she managed to get her head through the handle.  She did a good job clearing off the counter.  Of course I had to take a picture before I released her.

Another boy and his dog

Ethan (my grandson) is trying to let his doggie into the house.
Thanks for the picture, Naomi!

Trouble

So I was just sitting there on the deck with mom, minding my own business, and I spotted a C-A-T.  Well, I just couldn't resist giving it a good chase.  Mom saw my tail fly down the steps and I was like a rocket.  I took off into the swamp after that cat.  Mom was calling me, and I could tell she wasn't far away - but I guess I went the wrong direction.  Dad had to go through all the brush to help me find my way out.

When I got back inside, Dad was petting me - he said checking for ticks - and found out I was kind of wet and dirty from running in the swamp.  And then THIS is what happened!  Then Mom figured she should clean my ears too.  I do not like any of this!

Now they won't let me jump on the furniture.

All of this trouble because of a C-A-T.

A boy and his dog

How sweet is this?!  This is my sister's grandson and her granddog.

If anyone would like to have their pets added to the blog, I'll happily accept contributions!

Desperation!

It's getting late, and I realized I hadn't posted a picture yet!  Sadie cooperated for my desperation picture.  Such a cutie.

Danger...DANGER!

More than one person as seen the business end of these paws.
Emmie was reaching for the strap on the camera that was dangling when I was trying to get a good photo of her!

Hope

Sadie is an optimist, always ready if I drop any piece of food.
Or, maybe Sadie is a realist, knowing I will eventually drop a piece of food.

Could you please open the door?

Sadie's thinking about taking a nap if I don't open that door pretty soon!

Company tonight!

This sweet girl is Shambala.  She lives with Rich's sister - so I guess she's Sadie's cousin.  Nellie and Shambala were young puppies together and very best friends.  Keesha loved Shambala too.  Emmie's not too friendly, unless hissing is her way of welcoming Shambala.  Shambala is patiently helping Sadie learn to trust her and be her friend.  Without a doubt, Shambala is so sweet and good.

Sunday mornings

This is what happens every Sunday morning when I try to read the newspaper.

However, on the positive side, it DOES give me a great opportunity to trim those deadly nails.

Nice night to relax by the fire

A change in direction

I started this blog thinking it would be fun to imagine what these creatures who live in my house are thinking (no, not Rich - I can't figure that one out).

I had lots of pictures of Keesha, but not enough (never enough).  I have very few pictures of Emmie.  So, I'm going to try - important disclaimer word..."try" - to post a picture on this blog every day of Emmie, Sadie, any 4-legged visitors we have, or whatever we happen to have going on during the day.  Be forewarned, some pictures might look like they've been posted before...and that is a reflection of how ordinary things are around here.  I might post a description, and I still might blog from the pet perspective.

So here goes - a new direction...pictures...lots and lots of pictures!

This is Emmie, enjoying being outside

Friends, but still keeping a safe distance.
